"Pick your battles, child. That type of stupidity, and smallmindedness is global. Focus only on the wonderful light all children bring to this planet. Save your energy for the good you can bring to your own special family and if you have time and room for the rest of the world, then be the helper of your neighbor and friends. For they are really the ones that count. Not the discriminate ignorant ones. The creator will take care of all the injustices of the world. Be patient." by LDV
I thought about this comment. Yes, there is ignorance everywhere. I hope that I can change that one person at a time. Am I going to succeed with everyone? Of course not. Do I need to try for my son and his friends? Absolutely.
I just wish that I didn't have to work so hard within my own family and friend circuit to get the point across. Until you understand the pain that this can eventually cause Ethan, you will never be proud of the work I do or what others in the disability community are doing. And, you will be the ones to continue to use words that I have asked you not to use and see movies that I have asked you not to see. Because, what you fail to realize is that when you support the other side, you turn your back on what should be the most important. I can't tell you to do anything- I can't make you do anything. You have every right to do whatever it is you're going to do.
Yes, I can pick my battles. I choose to fight for the rights of my child. I will forever choose to fight for him over the easy way out of not saying anything at all. Everyone in this journey is not ready to fight- I am.

Never be afraid or feel badly for standing up for what you belive in! Don't let anyone make you feel dumb for your beliefs or make you feel like you should be focusing on 'more important'(in their eyes)things.
