Speech Therapy

Ethan started speech therapy with a new private therapist yesterday.  I will be working directly with the therapist in the session.  I have only primarily observed before, so I am excited to be a direct part of the process. 

I think that yesterday went well, considering.  I will have to stop by McDonald's or something on the way to therapy to pick up some ice cream because we know that Ethan will want ice cream, therefore he will have to ask for it.  Now, he does have a sign for ice cream, but we need him to understand the concept of grabbing the picture of what he wants in order to communicate his wants/needs. 

I know that this is going to be a long road, but Ethan has shown some good signs of wanting to communicate over the past few months, so I am quite optimistic.  I would be even happier if he figured out how to use words, but one thing at a time, right?
