A Girl I Know
Let me tell you about a girl I know
A girl whom I admire
A role model we all could follow
To be this girl, we all desire
She is compassionate and nurturing
Yet strong and always stands tall
She is always there encouraging
She’s that person who catches you before you fall
She is the North Star guiding at night
The rain purifying the fog
The moon in the dark, providing light
She is the pathway out of a bog
She’s full of so much love, it’s endearing
How can it fit inside her, this big heart?
Overcome by adversity, yet persevering
This girl with whom you’ll wish never to part
In my heart she will always reside
I am providential enough to say
Through sisterhood this girl and I are tied
And I would not have it any other way
My little sister, Kamrin, wrote this for me a few years ago. I found it the other day and was reminded again of how truly blessed I am to have such an amazing and talented sister. She likes to remind me of how I told her that she could never make any real money as a professional poet, and I would like to officially post that I think that she could TOTALLY prove me wrong. (In my defense, I was not very old when I told her that, LOL) Thank you, Drew. Love you, sista. *muah*
