I just noticed stuff floating in Ethan's cath tube. Prelim report says that it is blood and protein. The blood could be from having a foley in the first place, but what about the protein? They are going to run a culture. This is not anything we have ever dealt with before. Any answers/suggestions???

Blood could mean infection. The protein is a different story. Maybe his kidneys are sluggish right now due to the surgery, etc. It could be a number of things. I pray they find what it is soon! I know that must be scarey!

ReplyDeleteThe protein could be from an infection in his kidneys from the catheter. His kidneys need to be evaluated. That's according to Michel the RN.
