Letters from Challenge Farm

A few weeks ago, Cheri & Stephanie returned to Challenge Farm in Kenya.  I sent about 13 letters, each with their own picture.  I, of course, hoped that they would return home with some letters back for me.  Well, the kids wrote!!!  I received 14 letters/cards from the kids/staff.

Many of the letters say how much they miss me, love me, pray for me and my family…some came with beautiful jewelry.  A couple of them drew “I Love You” in sign language.  My heart about exploded when I saw those drawings!  I taught them that!  Here, almost FIVE months later, they still remember something that I brought to them.  This may seem so simple, but it means so much to me!

I also wanted to share with you something that Joseph wrote me.  This young man is just amazing…

“I love you Mama Kristen.  When you left us, the tears of sorrow brimmed my vision and I sighed deeply to ease the feeling.  I love you so much.  You are my Mama and I am your child.”

It was no secret that I took on a “motherly” role while in Kenya, so for Joseph to recognize it is just so special.  1020899_2Isn’t he the sweetest?
