NYC

Last Wednesday, I boarded a plane with two other gentlemen from church for New York City.  We were on a mission...literally.  Ha.

It was a harder trip for me than I expected it to be.  I mean, c'mon!  I have been to Africa for crying out loud!  How much more outside of  my box can I get!?!?  Yeah, um, apparently a LOT more!  We spent our time in the Jewish communities.  I did a little bit of homework on the Jewish faith, but not enough.  My heart breaks for those that think that Jesus was a horrible, horrible, man!  At least in Africa, the people had open hearts for the love of Jesus.  It was a very hard trip for me.

I was the only female on the trip, which didn't help.  The men I was with were awesome, that's not it- I just could have used a little estrogen companionship to decompress in the evenings (my room was on the 5th floor all by myself and the guys were on the 3rd floor where they had each other).

We got to see so much of NYC!

  • Battery Park
  • Ground Zero :*(
  • Wall Street/Financial District
  • Statue of Liberty in the distance
  • Central Park/Columbus Circle
  • Times Square
  • Rockefeller Center (went to the Top of the Rock!)
  • Harlem
  • Queens
  • Brooklyn
  • Grand Central Station (and countless other subway stations!)
  • Little Italy
  • Chinatown
  • Borough Park
We ate great food- Italian, Russian, Ukranian, Israeli, and the great Dunkin Donut.  Scott still says that my mission trips are unfair since his trips did not have good food.  LOL.

It's a lot to take in up there, but a great city.  I made new friends and was even able to get a visit from some Downsyn friends!  What a treat...

By Sunday, we were ready for that hour flight home!  I missed my family so much!  Ethan even seemed to be happy when he saw my face again.  Makes a Mama happy, yes it does.

  1. I don't think Jews see Jesus as a horrible man, as an NYC Jew I know I don't. We just don't believe that he was the messiah. Just as you are strong in your Christian beliefs a lot of Jews are strong in theirs. Seems fair..

I'm in NYC, I wish I had known you were coming! We could have met up! I'm in Morningside Heights, near Harlem.

I'm glad we were able to meet up, if only for an hour or so. It was nice meeting your friends too. I can see Ed and I will have to lose some of our NY qualities when we move to NC! Hopefully we'll learn to fit in somewhat! I hope you can make it over to our new house and/or maybe we could come to yours.
